Geographic Information Systems
" A geographic information system (GIS) lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. GIS benefits organizations of all sizes and in almost every industry (and education*). There is a growing interest in and awareness of the economic and strategic value of GIS." - Esri - What is GIS? http://www.esri.com/what-is-gis
Spatial Thinking
To think spatially, means to visualize a place by examining its position in relation to other surroundings.
You can learn by measuring, comparing, analyzing and evaluating the processes and patterns that make the place unique and tie the place to the world and to the events occurring in the world at any given time.
We are going to use the ArcGIS Platform this year to research and analyze our world.
